Dare you venture into the depths of the underworld? Anyone that’s brave enough to spin alongside the God of the Dead has a chance to win prizes worth over €1 million. However, the Hades slot game is much more than that.

With unique features, including Yggdrasil’s Gigablox mechanic, this game has the power to wow all that spin its reels. To help you see why this is one of the best mythical-themed casino games out there, check out our Hades slot review below.

SLOT PLOT

Dive deep down into the underworld of Hades and there you’ll find a red hot slot with blocks that are literally filled with potential. As the flames of hell flicker in the distance and Hades, the King of the Underworld, watches on, mega-symbols fall into place. Thanks to Yggdrasil’s Gigablox mechanic, this slot’s symbols can dwarf anything you’d find outside of the underworld.

With a subtle nod, Hades can make standard symbols cover as many as six spots on the board. When that happens, you’ll have many more ways to make winning combinations. In other words, Hades’ Gigablox symbols really are filled with more payout potential than most. That’s what makes this a heavenly game. Yes, you’re spinning in the depths of hell, but the experience is anything but terrifying.

GETTING TECHNICAL: HADES BETS, RTP & STRATEGY

Regardless of whether you try the Hades slot free play game or its real-money counterpart, the fundamentals remain the same. Yes, the former doesn’t feature cash prizes. However, the reels, symbols and RTP are all the same. So, what does that mean in practice? Well, for starters, the Hades slot gameboard is a 6X6 structure.

The king stands on the right and will be there to unlock special features such as the Hades slot free spins bonus. However, before he does anything like that, you need to set the six reels and 50 paylines in motion. Bets run from €0.10 to €100 and, when you line up three or more of the following symbols, you can win prizes worth up to 400X your coin bet (i.e. 8X your total bet size):

  • Card symbols (carved into blocks)
  • The Hydra
  • The Horned Beast
  • The Mutant Bird
  • The Minotaur (jackpot symbol)

Because Hades slots use the Gigablox mechanic, standard symbols are flanked by larger ones. Oversized blocks start at 2X2 but can be as big as 6X6. When these symbols fall into view, they cover more spots on the gameboard and, therefore, make it easier to make winning combinations. So, while there are six reels in play, it’s often the case that you only need to roll in a few matching symbols and a Gigablox to unlock a prize.

The Gigablox feature helps push the Hades slot machine RTP to 96% and the hit frequency to 20.50%. However, that’s not the end of the story. Like all epic Greek tales, Hades slots feature a number of twists and turns. Although you may need the help of the underworld’s mystical forces, there are ways to get more from this slot, including maximum payouts worth a whopping 11,129X.

BONUSES: FREE SPINS, FIGHTS AND MULTIPLIERS

Hades slots are packed with special features. In addition to the Gigablox mechanic, wilds can help you make winning combinations. Instead of a single symbol acting as a wild, this game has four. The monsters we referenced earlier in this Hades slot review act as wilds. To differentiate wilds from their standard counterparts, these symbols are gold.

In addition to wilds, King Hades can fight monsters on a whim. On any spin, the underworld’s most powerful being can take aim at a monster. If he defeats said monster, that symbol will turn into a wild. This also applies to Gigablox. So, if the monster was a 6X6 symbol and Hades won the fight, that block would become a massive wild.

To activate the Hades slot free spins bonus, you need to roll in five or more scatters (the three-headed hounds). When you unleash the hounds, you’ll receive as many free spins as scatters in view. As well as gratis turns, this bonus round triggers Hades’ aggressive side. In other words, he’ll fight monsters after every spin.

As before, a victory for Hades will turn the defeated symbol into a wild. The more fights he wins, the more potential you have. Winning ten fights during the Hades free spins round activates a 2X multiplier. Continue winning and you can unlock multipliers topping 10X and, potentially, payouts worth up to 11,129X!

SlotSlot

At the time of this Jackpot Express slot review, this new game is really starting to trend, with a RTP of 96.2% and low base game volatility, contrasting well with the three-tiered jackpot potential. You can select 17 different coins sizes, from €0.01 to €5 – creating a flexible betting range of €0.20 all the way to €100 for the random billionaire who happens to fancy their chances!

Hades uses an autosave feature that frequently saves your progress in the game. There are 4 available save slots and starting a new game requires you to choose one of the 4 slots to save in. You can also start a new save file with Hell Mode difficulty, but this option cannot be changed later on.

Autosave[edit edit source]

Hades

Progress is saved whenever the Hades sigil appears in the top right corner of the screen. This happens whenever Zagreus enters a new room, in the House of Hades or in the Underworld during a run.

Hades Slot

The game also autosaves before generating the preview for the next chambers after completing an encounter (i.e., after accepting the room reward). This prevents savescumming to generate different rewards for the next chamber.

Giving Up a Run[edit edit source]

You can quit the game at any time during a run by bringing up the menu and choosing 'Quit' to exit to the main menu.

However, if you received any damage during an encounter, the option to 'Quit' is replaced with 'Give Up'. This means you will abandon the run and return back to the latest save when you were at the Courtyard, before you started the run. This prevents savescumming through reloading the save when you are hit. Giving up does not break your win streak.

The first chamber's reward will not be changed if you 'Give Up' (e.g., if the first reward is Zeus's boon, giving up and restarting the run will still let Zeus offer you the first boon, unless you use another god's keepsake. This method does not replace Deadalus Hammers if they are the first reward). Abandoning the run brings you back to the Courtyard without changing the seed for the run (the randomly-generated pool of rewards). To get a new seed, you need to be killed during the run.

To save your progress in that run instead of 'Giving Up', complete the encounter and enter the next room. This should let the 'Quit' option appear instead of 'Give Up', letting you exit the game with the progress saved. You can then continue from where you left off.

There is currently an exploit where you can unlock/upgrade Weapon Aspects or Companions in the Courtyard and bring them to a run to 'try out'. If you get hit during the run and 'Give Up', you will return back to the latest save when you last entered the Courtyard, so it will be as if you have not yet invested Titan Blood/Ambrosia to unlock the Aspect/Companion. If you won that run, you will return to the House of Hades and overwrite that save, making your upgrade permanent for that save file.

Deleting a Save File[edit edit source]

You can delete a save file from the main menu to get an empty save slot. However, the save file actually still remains on your computer until it is overwritten by a new save file.

If you accidentally deleted a save file and wish to recover it, DO NOT start a new save file in that slot. Exit and restart the game. The previous save file should be retrieved, as long as you did not start a new save file in that slot.
